PO2 Joel Arquiza, the investigator assigned at Villanueva Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Rico Tampus, 37, a resident of Purok 3, Poblacion in the same town.

Tampus, who was working at Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, sustained seven hacked wounds to the different parts of his body. Three fatal wounds were seen at the back of his head.

In an initial investigation. Arquiza said the victim was with his siblings and relatives commemorating the death anniversary of his father inside his house.

At around 4 am the victim’s neighbors were shocked when they saw the bloodied body of Tampus near the house door.

Police theorized that the victim was attacked while in deep sleep as there is no sign of resistance and no defense wounds.

Nakamata seguro ni siya then mikamang pagawas sa iyang balay mao tong didto na siya nakita duol sa iyang gipuy-an,” Arquiza said.

Arquiza said, they have already a lead on the suspects’ identities but they could not yet reveal the names pending their arrest.
