The Bureau of Fisheries and  Aquatic Resources (Bfar-10) has given the municipality of Laguindingan a P2-million worth of projects and a plaque of recognition after they recently bagged the cleanest water in the entire Philippines.

This is in connection of the Bfar’s celebration of farmers and fisherfolk month.

Bfar-10 Regional Director Assuncion Maputol said this month’s celebration aims to give recognition to the efforts of farmers and fishermen who constitute half of the national labor force who contributes to the economic development of the country.

On May 2, Evee Dominguez, Bfar-10 officer-in-charge of the Fishing Management Regulatory Enforcement Division said Laguindingan is the first awardee where they gave P2-million worth of projects, and plaque of recognition. Ranked second is Bacolod, Lanao Del Norte, which will receive P1-million worth of projects and coming in third place is Mahinog, Camiguin and will receive P500-thousand worth of projects.

Assuncion commended the efforts of the local governments as well as its farmers and fisherfolk for making their waters clean for sustainable living.

This month’s celebration also highlights the installation of Fisherfolk Regional Director. This year’s newly-installed FRD is Junreil Pacoy.
