Police operatives of Gingoog City Police Office (GCPO) apprehended five drug personalities and the seized fragmentation grenades and firearms during a series anti-drug campaign in the city on Monday.

In a press statement sent to this paper, GCPO chief Chief Insp. Espiridion Biado III identified the suspects as Boa Ameril, Alimatar Ameril, Racman Ameril, and Danny Macadaag, all residents of Purok 6-A, Barangay 17, Gingoog City.

Biado said the series of operations was in response to the call of Mayor Marie Guingona to intensify its anti-drug operations in the city in support to the national campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against drug.

“This is a relentless anti-drug campaign to possibly eradicate illegal drug pushers and suppliers,” he said.

Recovered from Ameril residence were one transparent cellophane containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 1.1 grams including the transparent cellophane; two (2) transparent cellophane containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.6 grams including the transparent cellophane.

Also recovered were one .38 revolver with serial number: 23704, one hand grenade Fragmentation Type marked as GRCA-4, cash money worth P10,310 from the possession of Boa Ameril.

In other anti-drug operations, police also arrested one Junrey Daya-daya, 36, and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy Agay-ayan, Gingoog City.

Biado said the operation was witnessed by barangay kagawads Pacita  Cago, Ren James Lobido, and Raul Camay, all from Brgy Agay-ayan, and Rita Endrina, a media practitioner.

Confiscated from the possession of Daya-daya were 0.1 estimated grams of alleged shabu, 0.6 estimated grams of alleged shabu, two empty sachets with traces of suspected shabu, one .38 revolver with Serial Nr: 34455, two lighters, one glass tooter, one improvised bamboo clipper, one improvised plastic scoop, one improvised needle, one stainless cutter, one hand grenade (Fragmentation), one weighing scale, one Five Hundred peso bill, cash money amounting to P3,140.

The Ameril’s, Macadaag, and Daya-daya have been placed under arrest for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) and RA 6975 (Explosives). (Lito Rulona)
