This after, Atty. Angelito Magno will be transfer to Region III following a simple turn-over ceremony over the weekend. Magno ended his term of office with one year and one month as a regional director here.

In a simple ceremony officiated by Atty. Leopoldo Leuterio, Jr., Deputy Director of Regional Operations Services handed the Nembro flag in front of the guests and other officials who witnessed the turn-over.

Magno transferred to Central Luzon Regional Office based in San Fernando, Pampanga which covers the Provinces of Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Bataan, Aurora, Tarlac, Zambales, and several other cities with four NBI district offices.

His predecessor, Bacani belongs to batch 28 of the NBI Academy which is the same batch as Magno. Bacani is an alumna of the Ateneo Law School.

Before coming to northern Mindanao, Bacani has been assigned to different special units in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and in Region VIII based in Tacloban City.

In a press conference, Magno told local media that he would turn-over unfinished business in this region which include the conduct of lifestyle check of incumbent and former national and local government officials.

“I know that he will continue the lifestyle check. Ipapasa ko sa kanya ang ilang mga documents sa kanya and the campaign against corruption in the government service,” he said.

He said the lifestyle check is about to take-off but because of the sudden transfer of key personnel of NBI, it was affected.

He added that the reports include hidden wealth and possible involvement of corruption in the government service.

“This includes elected and appointed government officials,” he pointed out.

Magno said his accomplishment during his watch in this region includes the highlighted cases of human trafficking involving an American Peter Gerald Scully which is now charged with multiple cases before the Department of Justice.

He said he also conducted investigation on the controversial murder case of former-Gingoog City Councilor Anthony Bagaipo with local police officers of Gingoog City Police Office, syndicated estafa cases, anti-illegal drug campaign, among others.

Magno said Bacani mentioned to him that as he assumes the role as the regional director of northern Mindanao, he will continue the projects that has been started and will further impose challenges to the men of NBI in pursuit of truth and justice and crime prevention.
