Notorious molester guard falls

A security guard, who has been the subject of complaints from several women including minors for squeezing their private parts, has been finally arrested Tuesday morning.

Chief Insp. Evan Viñas, Puerto police precinct commander, identified the suspect as Jovelito Lapi, 29, a resident of Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Lapi has been working as a security guard with M Lhuillier-Villanueva branch.

The arrest happened when a minor together with a male companion were waiting for a ride along the highway of Sitio Baloy, Tablon.

Viñas said the suspect riding a motorcycle suddenly appeared from behind and squeezed the lower private part of the complainant.

Nakasinggit ang maong babaye kay kusog daw kaayo pagka kumot,” Viñas said.

He said the suspect then fled the area but was chased by the companion of the complainant onboard a passenger jeepney.

Luckily, he cornered the suspect and with the help of bystanders, they arrested Lapi.

Viñas said he turned over the suspect to Cugman police precinct as the incident took placed within its jurisdiction.

When Lapi asked by Viñas why he did such thing, the suspect answered it was just for fun.

At Puerto police precinct at least five female complainants positively identified Lapi as the one who touched their private parts.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at Cugman police mini-cell awaiting the formal filing of charges.
