Authorities arrested a person carrying an improvised pistol loaded with an M-16 ammunition in a checkpoint on Baloy National Highway Wednesday night.

Police said they were conducting the usual checkpoint in Barangay Tablon when they flagged down a black motorcycle without plate number drove by Allan Olinan, 33, of Zone 7 Camp Evangelista in Barangay Patag, around 7:50 pm for verification.

Police also seized four M-16 bullets and a Halloween mask from the possession of Olinan.

Police said Olinan failed to present his driver’s license and the registration papers of the Yamaha DT motorcycle he was driving during the arrest.

According to the police, Olinan claimed that he possessed the gun because his father is a former soldier and that he brought the gun for self-defense.

Bisan pa og anak siya sa sundalo or pulis wala kini naghatag kaniya og panugot nga puwedi siya magdala og armas, especially nga martial law pa gihapon karon,” Chief Insp. Evan Vinas, chief, of the Cugman police station said.

Olinan is now in the custody of the Cugman police station pending the filing of charges. (al ricalde)
