THE TASK Group Firecrackers is strongly recommending to City Mayor Oscar Moreno for a total ban on firecrackers in the city for next year’s yuletide season, the task group’s chairperson said.
Jane Docallos, City Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government and Chairperson of Task Group Firecrackers said she included her recommendation on her special report to Moreno.
In her five-page report, Docallos said the City Council should enact an ordinance that would totally ban firecrackers.
“The Task Group is highly recommending for the passage of a city ordinance banning firecrackers.,” Docallos stated in her report.
The recommendation comes at the heels after the city failed to reach its target of “zero casualty” during the recent yuletide revelries.
Docallos said she was dismayed that there were three firecrackerelated injuries after the yuletide season –– there were two victims in Barangay Kauswagan and one victim in Barangay Consolacion.
