BUTUAN City — Two barangay kagawads, one in Barangay Bayugan 3, Rosario, Agusan del Sur was killed, while another in Barangay Sto. Niño, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte was arrested by authorities serving search warrants of an anti-illegal drugs operations.
The twin incidents took place in two different provinces here in Caraga Region but in same day.
Rosario, Agusan del Sur Municipal Police report identified the fatality as Barangay Kagawad Potifar Canonigo, 56, resident and kagawad of Barangay Bayugan 3, who was killed after allegedly fighting it out with police trying to serve a search warrant, the police report stated.
The town’s police claimed in their report the Barangay Kagawad was allegedly in local drug watch list.
Rosario Police found illegal drugs shabu contained in plastic sachet, a.45 cal pistol and live bullets. Seized items are now in custody of Rosario Police for proper disposition.
On the other hand, a barangay kagawad from Barangay Sto. Niño, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte was arrested in shabu buy bust operation.
San Isidro, Surigao del Norte Police identified the arrested barangay official Flordelito Justol Quiban, 43, married and Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Sto. Niño.
A sachet of shabu, marked money of P500, and drug paraphernalia were found in the possession of Quiban.
Arrested seized items are now in custody of Rosario Police for proper disposition.
