Four high ranking female members of New People’s Army (NPA) had surrendered to the government in different occasions recently.

Lt. Col. Sergio Macarandan, Commander, 1st Special Forces Battalion, identified the surrenderers as Lorena Micabalo, 24, alias “Jai-jai;” Gloria Jandaya, 63, alias “Diding;”  Gleceria Balangiao, 34, alias “Jao;” and Jackielyn Elaco, 34, a resident of Fernandez street, this city, alias “Lala,” a political officer of SYP Company 3, SRC4, NCMRC. The army said she voluntarily surrendered on Feb. 14.

Jandaya is a staff of Regional Urban Committee, NCMRC, who surrendered on Feb. 11. Meanwhile, Balangiao is the liaison staff of RUC, NCMRC. She surrendered on Feb. 11.

Elaco, the army said, turned in assorted medical and dental kits, medicines, which she admitted being used to treat injured comrades in encounters with government troops.

She also turned-in cellphones and tablet that are now undergoing “contents forensics and analysis” to ensure information  on it could be used in court as proof in the filling of cases against individuals linked to the NPA.
