After winning the Green Banner Award for Outstanding Province in Caraga Region for three years in a row, Agusan del Sur will be awarded the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) 2014 by the National Nutrition Council (NNC).
The CROWN Award is presented to the province based on the recommendation of the interagency Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) and favorably endorsed by the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) to the NNC.
The provincial government will receive a cash prize of P500,000 during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony slated on October 29, 2015 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
The commitment and leadership of the head of the Provincial Nutrition Committee, Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza enabled all the levels of the Nutrition Committees to function effectively that contributed to the successful implementation of the health and nutrition programs in the province.
The members of the Nutrition Committee worked together to achieve the reduction of malnutrition in pre-school children from 7.15% in 2013 to 6.04% in 2014 that resulted to having the lowest prevalence rate among all the provinces in Caraga Region whereby awarded the Golden Tara Award by the Department of Health, Caraga Region.
The Nutrition Program Management was sustained through participative planning, sectoral program implementation, periodic monitoring and evaluation, allocation of resources for nutrition and strengthening of the Barangay Nutrition Scholar through provision of logistics and travelling allowance. # (credits to Ms. Laniebelle T.
