Iligan City — The head of this city’s Anti-littering Task Force Sean Actub said they will not hesitate in confiscating the goods should the “hard-headed” vendors continue to operate in places that are not for them.

Actub said he was informed that the vendors have been selling their wares at the site of the former Pala-o market.

“They are just hard-headed,” he said adding that they will seized the merchandise of the erring vendors which the task force would then give to “Bantay Bata” or the “Home for the Aged.”

He said the people he assigned to monitor were taking their Sunday rest reason why the vendors started plying their wares in the prohibited site.

Citing the incident last Sunday, Actub said he has tasked his group to monitor the prohibited site even on weekends.

The city has allocated a space for the vendors albeit temporarily at the Iligan Bus and Jeepney Terminal. However, vendors said they did not like selling their wares in the area because of the “defective structures.”

Actub said the most “problematic” are the ones at Chico street. He added that the city had filed cases against San Ramos.

To recall, the city government has filed a case against San Ramos for operating an illegal public market. His place at Palao had been padlocked two times on July but Ramos disregarded the padlocks and still kept on operating what he called his “mini-market.’’

Lawyer Samson Dajao, a lawyer they had consulted, branded the city’s action as “oppression in the guise of instilling discipline” as there were “necessary permits for them.”

Actub said there is “probable cause” for the cases against Ramos.
