Some two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Italpinas Development Corporation’s senior marketing and PR manager, Mr. Vincent Philip Justin P. Juico. Over lunch, he – and Ms. Clara Elizaga (Italpinas vice president for brand management) – shared stories about the latest developments at IDC.

Of particular interest is the award the company received from Habitat for Humanity – the Community Builder award. Corporate volunteering has always been a part of the IDC culture so this award is proof of the company’s commitment to the community it belongs to.

I have always thought that partnering with groups like Habitat for Humanity is an integral part of a company’s growth. A business cannot be completely successful until it embraces and supports its community. This, perhaps, explains why IDC has enjoyed positive developments for all its projects.

I am sharing with you a short article on the awarding of IDC. This was written by Mr. Juico and was published in one of the major national dailies.

A partnership that started in 2013. Six years, 53 homes and 53 families later, Italpinas Development Corporation was given the Community Builder award from Habitat for Humanity in recognition for its donation of funds and corporate volunteering. Last July 30, IDC representative Ma. RubiO.Bieri, Vice-President for Operations and HRD, received the award at the New World Hotel in Makati City.

The Community Builder award is given, according to the Habitat for Humanity website, “to individuals and/or organizations who work together with community partners to meet community needs and to create solutions that improve the lives of fragile individuals and families.”

Last year, Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 30th year in the country. They have built homes in over 200 communities, 1,000 schools and community centers that have made a lasting impact in the lives of more than 140,000 families.

Among the attendees of the event were Fernando Zobel De Ayala, who is the Chairman of the Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Development Council; and Walden Chu, the Chairman/President of the National Board of Trustees.

The IDC-Habitat for Humanity projects are located in various parts of the country in Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro; Pinamalayan, Mindoro; Bohol; and Payatas in Quezon City.

Congratulations to Italpinas! Thank you for making the community a part of your family. Hopefully, other companies will follow suit and create their own programs (or projects) for the “fragile individuals and families” in the country.

Italpinas Development Corporation is the developer of Primavera Residences and the soon-to-be-completed Primavera City (two of my favorite residential projects in the city).
