Santiago issued the order in light of the resignation of Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde, yesterday morning.

According to Lt. Col. Mardi Hortillosa, Camp Alagar spokesman, Santiago further ordered that the declaration reach up to the lowest ranking police officer in Region 10.

Hortillosa said Santiago wants all police officers in the region not to be affected with the resignation of Albayalde who is recently embroiled in a drug-related controversy.

Albayalde has been accused in a Senate hearing that he had cuddled 13 police officers who have allegedly recycled illegal drugs confiscated from a Chinese drug lord in Central Luzon.

Hortillosa said Santiago wants all the services of the police in the region should not be hampered as they welcome the appointment of PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa.

Ingon si General Santiago nga katungod man pud sa usa ka retirerable officials sama ni Albayalde nga mo-avail sa resignation or mo-avail sa early retirement, before siya mo-retire,” Hortillosa said.

Albayalde is set to retire from the uniformed service on Nov. 8, this year.

Hortillosa said Santiago’s order is also for its member not to be demoralized by the resignation of Albayalde.
