Two people died, including a police sergeant, and 11 others were hurt in scuffle that ended with a grenade exploded near a group of students at a covered court of the Initao Community College in Misamis Oriental before noontime today.
Authorities identified the slain officer as Sgt. Jason Magno who died while trying to stop a grenade lobbed by the suspect from exploding near people. The suspect was killed, too. One of those hurt was Magno’s colleague, Sgt. Alice Balido. The wounded were rushed to hospitals in Initao and in Cagayan de Oro. (Nitz Arancon)
