Fight against polio virus continues as Cagayan de Oro’s local government through the task force Kontra Polio intensifies its second round of polio vaccination.

The task force, with Dr. Fahad Macadato of the City Health Office, thanked San Lazaro residents of its support especially the Muslim community.

The city government has responded with a 99% accomplishment rate in the first round on Nov. 25 until Dec. 7, 2019 after the Department of Health declared polio outbreak on Sept. 19, 2019.

Dr. Lorraine Nery, acting City Heath Officer, earlier said different stakeholders and the communities as well were included in the task force as their involvement and cooperation is needed in preventing the spread of polio virus.

The DOH, in its advisory, said a total of 16 polio cases ages two-four years old were recorded in the country since its outbreak in September 2019 and four of it came from Mindanao.
