Army’s 4th Infantry Division public affairs chief Major Rodulfo Cordero, said the recipients comprised the latest batch of former rebels, who qualified for the financial grants under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Cordero said the E-CLIP benefits  are in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy in reintegrating the FRs back to mainstream society and help them improve their living conditions.

In a press statement, the financial assistance worth P80,000.00 came from the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental.

The 16 former NPA rebels received financial assistance during an awarding ceremony held at Headquarters of 58th Infantry Battalion (58IB) at Sitio Migbanday, Poblacion, CLaveria, Misamis Oriental on February 17, 2021, according to Cordero.

The awarding rite was led by RSW, E-CLIP focal person Filmark Y. Jumawid who represented Misamis Oriental  Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano, and Ms. Janiene L. Pasicaran, RSW; together with 58IB executive officer Major Hermilando T. Corvera Jr.

Each of the 16 beneficiaries receive P5,000 in cash, which could help them start a small business to help improve their lives in community and nation-building, the report said.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the government who according to them remained sincere in supporting them.

“This is only an initial help under the E-CLIP benefits,” it said.

It said there are more benefits to come such as housing benefits, modified conditional cash assistance, sustainable livelihood programs, assistance to individuals in crisis situations and protective and basic services for individuals and their families.

“Dili pa man ni ingon na dako no pero kay kinasing kasing ni na paghatag gikan sa gobyerno. Maningkamot gihapon kita na sa inyohang pagbalik sa sabakan sa gobyerno, atong paspason ang pagprocess sa assistance na makuha pa ninyo,” Jumawid said.

58IB commander Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy said that the political will and commitment of the line agencies and the local chief executives together with the full support of their constituents, are the keys to ending insurgency in every region. (Ben Balce)
