A 24-year-old Iligan city resident was arrested after he was caught by authorities illegally selling petroleum products, Monday morning.

Iligan City Police Director Police Dominador Estrada, identified the suspect as Allan Butalid, single, and a resident of Barangay Esperanza Bacolod, Lanao del Norte.

Estrada said Butalid was arrested by intelligence operatives of his office led by Police Major Jose Marlon Agabon in the act of selling the said liquid fuels at 9 am while at Barangay Buru-un of the said City.

When asked whether he has a permit or authority from the Department of Energy, the suspect replied in the negative

Confiscated from the suspect were a five-liter gallon container filled with diesel, several empty gallons, three improvised funnels, a six-meter long hose, and a P1,000 bill.

Estrada said the successful operation was part of their campaign to combat the illegal trading of petroleum products and the incident will serve as a stern warning to all illegal traders to stop doing the said activity.
