REELECTIONIST Mayor Erick G. Cañosa (Lakas) won by a landslide over his opponent former mayor Marie Guingona of the National Unity Party with 51,236 votes and 25,241 votes, respectively in the recently concluded general elections.

Cañosa’s lead over Guingona was more than 25,000 votes but his running mate city councilor Winfred Militante lost to City Councilor Thaddeus Lugod (NUP) with 39,685 votes and 34,197 votes, respectively.

While in Medina, reelectionist Mayor Donato Chan (Lakas) won the election with a big margin against Mai Uyguangco (NUP)

Chan got 18,511 votes with a 15,941-lead over Uyguangco who got only 2,570 votes.

Town Councilor Paolo Magallanes (Lakas) also won with 13,558 votes over Ruperto Culla (NUP) with only 6,746 votes.

A twin in Magsaysay both won, Mayor Rey Buhisan (Lakas) won as a board member in the first district of the province while Vice Mayor Charlie Buhisan (Lakas) won with 12,872 votes in the mayoral race over his opponent Atty. Gam Galliao (NUP) with only 5,574 votes.

In Talisayan, last termer Mayor Rommel C. Maslog (Padayon) was elected vice mayor with 8,192 votes over his opponent town councilor Andre Llagas (NUP) with only 7,634 votes.

Maslog’s running mate, Councilor Rico Taray also won with 6,268 votes over councilor Andre Llagas (NUP).

Other mayoral candidates of Talisayan were Councillor Ciriaco Talines ((NUP) with 6,235 votes, Vice Mayor Epoc Josep (Ind) with 4,335 votes, and Salong Buat (PRP) with 81 votes.

The son of Misamis Oriental Governor-elect Peter M. Unabia, Aaron Paul has been reelected mayor of Balingoan town with 4,843 votes over his opponent Vice Mayor Dilla Ongccahoy Veja with 2,618 votes.

In Kinoguitan, Danilo Lagbas Jr (NUP) won the election with 5,103 votes against Lauro Go (Lakas) with 4,941 votes.

In Sugbongcogon, Mayor Mildred Lagbas-Mondigo (Lakas) was reelected with 5,710 votes against Procopio Montejo (Ind) with 1,432 votes. While Councilor Ivan Chester Lagbas (Lakas) also won with 4,078 votes against incumbent Vice Mayor Derrick Lagbas (NUP) with only 3,117 votes.

Salay Mayor Angelo Capistrano, Jr (Lakas) was reelected with 13,313 votes over Hans Bongcayao (NUP) with 2,841 votes.

Lagonglong Mayor Jap Puertas (Padayn) was also reelected with 11,318 votes over Jhuvert Pamisa (NUP) with 1,836 votes, and Danilo Gadrinab (Ind) with 1,358 votes.

In Balingasag, Mayor Alexis Quina (NUP) has been reelected with 20,964 votes over Councilor Alvin Edadis (Lakas) with 19,960 votes.

Balingasag Vice-mayor Felix Borromeo was also re-elected without an opponent with 32,669 votes.

No media personalities in eastern Misamis Oriental won the general elections. They are former Mayor Jhubert Pamisa, who lost the mayoral contest in Lagonglong. Blocktimer Mitch Dao-ayan (Promdi) failed in the Kinoguitan mayoral contest with only 15 votes.

For city councilors in Gingoog, Ronie Waniwan (Lakas) lost with with 21,000 vots.

Other media personalities who lost in Gingoog City were Shelly Dalit (NUP), Ricardo Cañete (Ind), Del Valendez (Ind), and EddievMainit (Ind).

Blocktimer Joe Carbon also failed to make it in the race for a seat at the Sangguniang Bayan of Medina town.
