MORE than a million worth of illegal drugs were seized from a businessman in Bukidnon during a buy-bust operation last Sunday.

Police Col. Jun Mark Lagare, Bukidnon Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Sir Knight Espiritu alias “Epoy,” 42, single, and residing at Purok 9, North Poblacion, Maramag of the said province.

As a businessman, the suspect is involved in the buying and selling of chickens in the area.

Taken from the suspect were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets weighing 185 grams, and another two big knot-tied cellophane all containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated value of P1,285,000.

Also found in the suspect’s possession were several illegal drug paraphernalia and some personal belongings.

Lagare said the suspect was arrested by joint teams composed of personnel from Bukidnon Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Capt. Alvin Jay Dacillo, together with Maramag municipal police station, and other police units by virtue of a search and seizure issued by Judge Mirabeaues Undalok of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 8 in Malaybalay City at 9:40 pm.

Espiritu is now in the custody of Maramag police for proper disposition.
