OPERATIVES from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) scored again against criminality when they arrested a criminal gang member who robbed a female private company employee yesterday, early morning.

Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cocpo chief, identified the suspect as Joel Molejon alias ‘Borbor,’ 38, single, and a resident of Zone 5, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

The suspect, who is a member of Batang Mindanao Gang (BM 29) a dreaded criminal gang, was apprehended by joint operating elements composed of Police Station 6 (Puerto) led by Police Lt. Angel Winston Salvacion, Deputy station commander under the direct supervision of Police Major Pater Tajor, station chief; together with personnel of Tagoloan Municipal Police Station, Tagoloan, under the direct supervision of Police Capt. Ron Baba, station Commander at San Vicente, Barangay Casinglot of the said town at 11:45 am.

In a police report, it was learned that Molejon victimized a certain Jorylyn Pepito, an employee at Del Monte Philippines located at Barangay Bugo of the same city while at Apitong street of the same barangay at 6:30 am.

Pepito told police investigators the suspect, who was armed with a short firearm, announced a hold-up and forcibly took her mobile phone.

In an interview with the suspect, he told reporters that he was forced to commit such a crime after he and his live-in partner quarreled.

Mandia said that during the suspect’s arrest, the team was able to confiscate from the latter’s possession a .357 Smith and Wesson homemade revolver with a serial number 13457 and fully loaded with six live bullets.

At the police station, he was positively identified by the victim.

The suspect is temporarily detained at the Puerto police mini-cell while cases for robbery with serious physical injury and illegal possession of a firearm are being prepared.

Mandia, who commended the operating units, reiterates that the operation was in line with Cocpo’s Anti-Criminality Operation which aims to ensure the entire area of responsibility of Cagayan de Oro is safe to work, live, and do business for all.

He also reminded the general public to report any suspicious activity in their area and be alert all the time.
