Zalsos, who is a lawyer and a certified public accountant, is the chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Laws. The said inquiry was conducted Tuesday of this week.

It was also learned that 3,500 tablets worth P49 million in all, for the Department of Education, this city were already delivered but not yet paid.

Upon inquiry, electronic tablets worth P4,000 were priced at P6,000 while tablets worth P6,000 were priced at P14,000.

The supplier, which she did not identify during the said inquiry, was present, the councilor said. One member of the former Bids and Awards Committee, in the person of Engr. Josephus Albao was also present.

The said transactions, it was learned, were made during the past administration of Mayor Celso Regencia. They were delivered but not yet paid and the supplier, Zalzos said they are going to file against the local government.

To recall, the city under Regencia was accused of “overpriced” rice delivered by a supplier costing millions of pesos by a supplier, who only had a capital of P16,000.

Other councilors present during the said inquiry were Sammy Huertas, Ramil Emborong, and Jake Balanay.
