GINGOOG City Councilor Dr. Jerome Magan, chair of the committee on health, campaigned for the use of condoms for protection against sexually-transmitted diseases such as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) which is reportedly rising in the city.
“Always use condoms for your protection against AIDS,” said Magan in an interview last Friday.
As a physician, Magan believes that the use of condoms is best for preventing the sexually-transmitted diseases.
To date, there are more than 50 people who have been infected with AIDS and three recently died of the same disease, Magan said.
The 50 people living with AIDS volunteered to have themselves tested, Magan added.
He believes there may be more in the city.
“Maulaw ug mahadlok lang na sila modool sa pagpa AIDS testing,” Magan said.
