One of Cagayan de Oro’s oldest teaching institutes the Pilgrim Christian College is celebrating its diamond foundation anniversary this coming November 25 with its Grand Alumni Homecoming.

In a press conference held on October 17, held at its campus overall Chairperson Fausto Abella, DBA announced this year’s theme, “PCC@75: Celebrating the Legacy of Faith, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence and Service”

During the two-week-long activity PCC will kick off its festivity this coming November 12 with its Foundation Run/ Zumba at the Rio de Oro River Boulevard at 4 AM; then on November 13 to 24 booth display of various products; and on Nov. 13 one of its highlight activities the search for PCC Ambassadors will commence with its coronation scheduled on the 22nd followed with the grand opening of FSA night/Christmas tree lighting led by Rev. Bernadette Curan and a bible festival the following day.

The PCC Diamond Ambassador will have a total of 22 candidates. Eleven of which are representatives from Grades 7 to 11. Meanwhile, twelve from its Senior High School and various college departments.

According to Abella, the said competition would not have a runner-up title. Instead, there will be five winners that will be named PCC Ambassadors – Faith, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence and Service.

These attributes correlate to the institute’s core values that the school has upheld for the past 75 years since its founding in 1948 serving as its “Legacy” for future Pilgrimians.

For high school candidates: Nathan Pactain Salazar (Grade 7), Neythann Chloe Pabro Pacamalan (Grade 7),Akisha Liannah Casas Cabilao (Grade 8), Ahmad Tambas Aleemrajai Yahya III (Grade 8), Abel Jhon O. Salva (Grade 9), Anahitta E. Takki (Grade 9), Yexel James, Lobitaña Andong (Grade 10), Sophia Lorraine Lopez Amodia (Grade 10), Tejie Quiapo Tamorite (Grade 11), Lourain Faith and Abella Famoso (Grade 11).

College candidates:  Juliana Mipranum (Grade 12), Kefee Palacio (Grade 12), Angel Marie Cahanap (SOE), Mark Daniel Rebucas Jacob (SOE), Ritchel Sudaria Pielago (SOE), Keinly Kyle Molina Caasalan (SOE), Jay Sam Abragan Sabuero (SBA), Mary Cris C. Quimod (SBA), Raiza Jane Ayupan Albances (SBA), Jim Lorence Basalan Villacencio (SBA), Carla Cosido Garcia (SAS), and Johndie Jones O. Dee (SAS).

On Nov. 18 PCC will conduct its Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR) activity followed by the College Alumni Night and FSA Family Day the next day.

Another highlight activity the “Gabi ng Parangal: Tribute to PCC leaders/Jubilarians” is slated on the 20th honoring the institute’s past leaders for their unwavering support and contribution that made significant impacts on the whole PCC community.

November 21 will be a festive showcase of dances during the PCC’s Field Demonstration a variety of local and international cultural dances among others with representatives from the grade school, high school, Junior and Senior high and college departments joining in to showcase their talents.

Members of the media take turns in asking questions regarding the upcoming activities of the 75th Foundation of Pilgrim Christian College. The said presscon is spearheaded by Dr. Fausto S. Abella (overall chairperson) and Dr. Dahlia Busiños, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

On the 23rd PCC will start its morning with a Thanksgiving lead of Rev. Bernadette Curan followed by the Service Awards activity, then a motorcade around the bustling city of Cagayan de Oro, invitational games for other schools to participate, and Showcase of Talents.

Before the much anticipated Grand Alumni Homecoming slated on the 25th, on the 24th in celebration of excellence, the long-time tradition of awarding this year’s outstanding Pilgrimians will be held. The said activity is led by Dr. Dahlia D. Busiños, PCC Vice President for Academic Affairs, OIC – Office of the President.

Busiños with the emphasis on “The” Outstanding Pilgrimians 2023 said there can only be one individual to be awarded with this year’s prestigious award.

“These outstanding individuals are alumni of this school and have greatly brought great honor and pride through their achievements excelling in their fields and careers,” she said.

The said award has no age limit, therefore any alumni can be nominated as long as they meet the board’s qualification. According to Busiños there are eight total candidates for this year and come from different professions and backgrounds but with one thing in common – they are Pilgrimians.

For 75 years, PCC has maintained its dedication to giving its students a well-rounded education. Pilgrim Christian College places a strong focus on its commitment to fostering students’ faith and education in Christian values through its guiding principles.
