MESSENGER now has a “Share a Thought” feature where you can, uh, share a thought. It’s kind of a thought bubble that appears above your Messenger profile photo at the top of the Messenger Chats, along with the other profile photos that may also have their own thought bubbles.

If, say, you want people to know you’re busy and can’t immediately reply to messages, you may share that as a thought: Busy, busy, busy. Which could be the thought bubble of this particular friend whose twin is the word “busy.” He’s always busy, 100 percent, 24/7—the perfect example of “no rest for the weary.”

But does that mean he won’t reply to the texts, messages, and phone calls of his boss?

Or if it’s PBBM or a mayor, governor, congressman, senator, and other VIPs, will he ignore their calls, texts, and messages because he’s busy?

People do have priorities. If you’re not their priority, they can easily ignore you. Until they’ll need your help. Then you’re suddenly the most important person in their world.

But once they have what they need from you, they’ll forget you again and ignore all your calls, texts, and messages. There will come a time when you’ll start behaving like them, too. When you’re too tired already of always giving to these now-you-see-them-now-you-don’t people.

Give-and-take is the norm. Not take-and-take. Only saints were known to give and give.

The pandemic lockdowns forced people to reassess their life: focus on self, or focus on other people.

Hmmm. Self first. “You can’t give from an empty cup,” as the saying goes.

The pandemic lockdowns made people think a lot, until they felt they had to do more than just thinking. So, they learned to move on.

But it’s the movies that can’t seem to move on. From prequels and sequels, that is. “The Hunger Games,” for example, had “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” for this year. “Trolls Band Together” was the “Trolls” franchise’s third installment.

And there was “The Marvels” where Flerken cats swallowed crew members with “Memory,” a hit song from Broadway’s “Cats,” as muzak. My laughter for that particular scene—ha ha ha—must have sounded like the cats’ gag reflex as huge tentacles shot out of their mouths. Eww.

I didn’t want to watch “The Marvels” because I didn’t like its trailer. But it’s a Marvels movie, so, why not? Still, “I have regrets, regrets,” as the Kenny Rankin song goes. I should have stayed home and read a book instead. Books seldom fail in my personal entertainment department.

Movies have more potential to disappoint since their trailers always show the best parts, to make the audience crave for more. The best trailers are like sugar I guess, such as that of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “Wonka.” Siyokoy and chocolates.

How about Aquaman and the Little Mermaid in one movie. The knight in shining armor saving the damsel in distress. Dory will also be there, along with “Splash” star Daryl Hannah and the Philippines’ Dyesebel. It will be a smorgasbord of famous and adored aquatic characters. Therefore, no Ursula.
