CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy has announced his support for extending the deadline for business permit renewal and registration to February 29, 2024.

The decision to extend the deadline comes in response to the needs of the city’s small businesses, allowing them more time to reassess their finances before paying their documentary requirements to the city.

The business permit renewal process began on January 2, 2024, with the original deadline set for January 20, 2024.

Mayor Uy’s office, as disclosed by Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan, the mayor emphasized the importance of providing small businesses with additional time to manage their financial obligations.

Lumbatan said this extension aims to alleviate the financial burden on small businesses, acknowledging the challenges they face in meeting the original deadline.

In addition to the extension of the business permit renewal deadline, the city also provided information regarding the deadlines for Real Property Tax (RPT) payments.

The deadlines for RPT payments are as follows: 1st Quarter – March 31, 2024; 2nd Quarter – June 30, 2024; 3rd Quarter – September 30, 2024; and 4th Quarter – December 31, 2024.

The announcement of these deadlines aims to assist businesses and property owners in preparing for their financial obligations throughout the year, according to Lumbatan.

She added Mayor Uy’s decision to extend the business permit renewal deadline reflects the city’s commitment to supporting small businesses and easing their financial responsibilities.

“This move demonstrates the city government’s recognition of the challenges faced by small enterprises and its proactive efforts to provide them with necessary support,” said Lumbatan.

The extension of the business permit renewal deadline is expected to provide relief to small businesses in the city, said Lumbatan, enabling them to make more informed financial decisions and manage their obligations effectively.

The mayor’s office encourages all eligible businesses to take advantage of the extended deadline and ensure compliance with the requirements.

Lumbatan also explained that as the city continues to prioritize the welfare of its small business community, Mayor Uy and his administration remain committed to creating a conducive environment for business growth and development, ultimately contributing to the economic prosperity of Cagayan de Oro City.
