ILIGAN City — In a tragic incident on yesterday morning, March 7, a member of the board of directors of the Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. was fatally shot in an apparent ambush.
According to a report aired by reporter Roy Soriano Borlado, relayed to him by another reporter, Ritchel Umel, the victim was identified as Cocoy Acampong, a resident of Salvador, Lanao del Norte.
Initial reports suggest that Acampong was driving along Lala, Maranding, Lanao del Norte, when two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on his vehicle.
The attack resulted in the death of Acampong and his daughter, with his wife sustaining injuries. The injured wife was promptly taken to a nearby hospital by concerned citizens.
At present, law enforcement authorities in Lala are engaged in hot pursuit operations to apprehend the assailants responsible for this heinous crime.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations continue.
