Hosted by the DPWH-10 Regional Office and presided over by Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter Unabia, the Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee of the Regional Development Council Region 10 backed Rodriguez’s proposals, which are poised to transform the city’s landscape.

Among the key projects is the construction of the Gusa Flyover.

With a budget of P900 million, this 600-meter structure will span the bustling intersection of BCIR and Galaxy Road in Barangay Gusa, aiming to alleviate the severe traffic congestion experienced during peak hours.

Another innovative project is the P432 million covered walkway, designed to provide safe and convenient pedestrian access between Northern Mindanao Medical Center and prominent commercial centers, such as Centrio Mall, SM Downtown, and Limketkai’s Gateway Tower, while also linking to Gaisano Mall and the adjacent Nazareno Church.

To further ease traffic woes, Rodriguez has secured approval for the Macasandig Flyover project, which will facilitate smoother travel to Aluba and Tibasak areas from Macasandig, especially during rush hours.

The pedestrian safety in Puerto is also set to improve with the introduction of a P30 million Pedestrian Overpass stretching from Gaisano Mall to the Puerto Market.

This will provide a safe crossing for pedestrians over the hazardous Sayre Highway frequented by heavy vehicles.

Additionally, P60 million has been allocated for the construction of pedestrian overpasses at the BCIR in Malasag Crossing, Cugman, and F.S. Catanico Crossing, Cugman, ensuring the safety of residents traversing these busy areas.

Expressing his gratitude, Rep. Rodriguez acknowledged the committee’s support for these transformative projects, which promise to advance the city’s development and enhance the quality of life for its citizens, known as Kagay-anons.

Furthermore, Rodriguez briefed the RDC-10 InfraCom on the progress of his legislative initiatives, including the Metro Cagayan de Misamis Development Authority Bill and the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Development Authority Bill.

These bills aim to secure substantial national budget allocations for both CdeO and Misamis Oriental, as well as protect the vital Cagayan River.

Committed to the welfare of his constituents, Rep. Rodriguez is gearing up to advocate for Cagayan de Oro City’s needs during the fiscal year 2025 budget deliberations in Congress.

His efforts are concentrated on ensuring that all essential development projects receive the necessary funding.

As Cagayan de Oro City looks forward to the coming year, the groundwork laid by Rep. Rodriguez’s advocacy heralds an era of growth and prosperity, with infrastructure at the forefront of the city’s transformative journey.
