Selected focal persons from various departments and offices of the Provincial Capitol gathered to discuss the Single Digit Poverty Incidence (SDPI).

Among the initiatives discussed was providing assistance through education and livelihood programs for families identified as the “poorest of the poor” in the various departments’ adopted barangays.

Linmark Benlot from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office noted mental preparedness as a significant challenge in achieving SDPI, as these families may resist any possible lifestyle changes.

Governor Unabia’s vision, as outlined in his recent State of the Province Address, aims to achieve a single-digit poverty rate by 2028.

Regular meetings with SDPI focal persons will continue in the coming months, guided by the governor’s directives.

Provincial Administrator John Venice L. Ladaga expressed gratitude towards the focal persons for their cooperation and dedication in uplifting their fellow Misamisnons through their exchange of suggestions and solutions to address the poverty issue in the province.

This initiative aligns with Governor Unabia’s PAGLAUM strategic direction, emphasizing Participatory Governance as a means to drive progress and prosperity in Misamis Oriental.
