REGIONAL Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao led the ground-breaking ceremony of the concreting of the 63-kilometer Kapai-Tagoloan-Talakag Provincial Road Phase II on Friday, August 7, 2015 in the Municipality of Kapai, Lanaodel Sur.

During the formal opening program, Lanaodel Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” AlontoAdiong, Jr. stated that an additional 10 kilometres of the road shall commence concretion.

“Soon, the road to Talakag, Bukidnon will be fully paved enhancing trade between the two provinces and therefore, boosting Lanao del Sur’s economic growth and providing livelihood to our farmers and constituents,” Adiong said.

Before proceeding to the ground-breaking site, Hataman, Adiong and Armm – Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Don Mustapha Loong signed a Memorandum of Agreement in behalf of their respective offices to fully commit to the project’s completion by the end of 2016.

The Kapai-Tagoloan-Talakag Road shall connect the municipalities of Kapai and Tagoloan, Lanaodel Sur to the municipality of Talakag, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City. As of press time, almost 21 kilometres of the road has already been concreted.

The small portions of the Kapai-Talakag road damaged by natural causes through the years shall also be rehabilitated since government will turn it into a national road, according to Engr. Mikunug R. Macabantog of DPWH Regional Office No. 10.

“Government upgrades roads to national roads when they connect regions and the Kapai-Talakag road shall connect Armm to Region 10,” Mikunug said.

The Kapai-Talakag road is worth Php220 million according to DPWH-ArmmLanao del. the project is being implemented by the Armm-DPWH Lanao del Sur First District Engineering Office headed by Engr. Luz Sani. pr
