BUTUAN CITY — Joint operatives of the national police and the department of the Interior nabbed four suspected dope dealers, including two minors who served as “runners” (drug couriers), in a dawn raid in Purok 3, Barangay 3, Cabadbaran City on Friday.

Cabadbaran City Police Director Police Chief Insp. Jorge Fernandez said the suspects were arrested while serving a search warrant for the house of certain Jomar Corvera issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Gael Paderangga of Branch 34 Cabadbaran City.

Fernandez identified the suspects, believed to be peddling illegal drugs in the area, as Jomar Panis Corvera alias “Omay”, 37, his live-in partner Marlie Ferrer Pialago, 23, Edwin Bacaro Musico, 38, single and Jenneth Baluro Placero, 38 years old, single.

Fernandez claimed the minor suspects who admitted they only served as drug couriers or runners of said illegal drugs trade aged 13 years old and 14 years old, all residents of Barangays Doongan and Obrero, Butuan City.

Seized from the suspects were 10 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, several drug paraphernalia, a .22 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol (without serial number); 27 pieces 5.56 mm live ammunition; seven .9mm bullets; one digital weighing scale; 10 assorted cellular phones; six disposable lighters; 33 pieces empty sachets; one bundle cellophane for packaging; assorted sizes of aluminum foils; four improvised bamboo sealers; four improvised plastic panels; two improvised tooters.

Also found were cash of different denomination amounting to P11,140 believed to be proceeds from the suspects’ illegal drug trade; one piece butane gas cylinder with nozzle; a Suzuki motorcycle; a Honda XRM motorcycle; one Honda motorcycle with orange sidecar bearing plate number MS 24451; one unit motor engine; one chassis of motorcycle; and several dismantled motorcycle parts believed to be illegally acquired.

Suspects are now temporarily detained at the Cabadbaran City Police Detention cell.
