A DAY after taking oath of office, Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vicente Emano went on a leave of absent. He will be gone for 25 days.

Vice Gov. Jose Mari Pelaez has been named acting governor effective Tuesday May 24 until June 17.

Pelaez said provincial board member Vincent Pelaez would serve as acting vice governor until next month.

Emano’s whereabouts is unknown but he was seen leaving for Manila on Tuesday morning.

In a text message, he said he has gone on a 25-day leave for “personal” reasons.

Pelaez said he had planned to go on a leave but Emano beat him to it.

“Imbis mag-leave unta kog usa ka simana, na-unhan hino-on ko ni gov,” Pelaez said.

Pelaez his was aware that his task as acting governor is limited.

“Ang akong trabaho isip acting governor ministerial lang. I cannot hire and fire any employee,” he said.
