POLICE yesterday expressed its doubts over the claim of a young man that he and a companion were seized by armed men on Apolinar Velez-Mabini streets and then freed in Barangay Indahag without a clear reason.

Chief Insp. Maricris  Mulat, chief of the Divisoria police, said the claim was made by Pee Jee Lloyd Durato, 22, of Igpit, Opol   in Misamis  Oriental.

In his complaint, Durato claimed he and an unnamed companion were snatched by a group of about 10 people around midnight near the City Central school. He claimed he was with a newfound friend from the CDO Bar near the rotunda  in Macasandig.

While waiting for a jeepney, he said, a black van came and they were forced to ride it at gunpoint.

Durato told the police he was blindfolded, tied up, and he passed out after he was struck with a gun.

Durato told the police that when he regained his conscousness, he heard his companion crying because of the threat, and they were subsequently released at around 2 am at the Taguanao Bridge in Barangay Indahag. He claimed he was kicked out of the van.

But Chief Insp. Mulat described Durato’s story as “suspicious” because of loose ends.

Mulat noted that Durato claimed that he walked from the Taguanao Bridge to Igpit, and that he reached his home at around 9 am. She said the alleged abduction was reported to the police around noontime on Sunday.

Durato also showed no signs that he was attacked contrary to his claims.

“Kon   gibunalan pa siya   ug pusil ug  gisipa, na-a unta    siyay bun-og, pero wala man,” Mulat said.

Mulat said investigators would continue to look into Durato’s claims. (nitz arancon)
