COUNCILOR Leon Gan yesterday said it has become clear to him that Mayor Oscar Moreno got rid of former acting city treasurer Glenn Bañez apparently due to irreconcilable differences resulting from issues that have been hounding city hall.

“It is clear nga gidispatsar kini siya sa mayor,” Gan said.

He said among the issues that caused the alleged friction between Moreno and Bañez are the controversial tax settlement between city hall and Ajinomoto Philippines that nearly cost the mayor his seat, and the P79 million in city hall checks that were allegedly issued to Moreno.

Gan said of Bañez’s “resignation”: “Nagpakita lamang kini nga aduna na sila’y irreconcilable nga bingkil sa mayor. Dili na masulbad ang sitwasyon.”

He said the Moreno administration has yet to give a good explanation on Bañez’s exit, noting that the  Quezon city government has denied its claim that the former acting city treasurer was recalled to his “mother unit” (Quezon city hall).

Gan said Bañez’s career in the government service was destroyed.

“Ako’y naluoy sa nahitabo ni Bañez. Maayo man siguro ang iyang kahimtang didto sa Quezon City before he accepted the offer to work here. Siya napasagdan unya karon ilabay na lamang intawon. Daghan pa kaso ang iyang atubangon. Si Bañez kaabag karon nahimo na nga babag,” Gan said. (lito rulona)
