THE province’s legislature would start public hearings on the proposed amendment of Misamis Oriental’s revenue code.
The provincial board has scheduled two public hearings. One would be held for the province’s 1st District in Talisayan at the town’s gymnasium starting at 1:30 pm on July 21. The other is scheduled on July 28 for the 2nd District at the Misamis Oriental 1 Rural Service Electric Cooperative (Moresco 1) covered court in Laguindingan.
Provincial board member Wayne Militante, chairman of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan’s committee on ways and means, said the the hearings are aimed to inform the public about the proposed amendments to the province Revenue Code, and so that taxpayers would have the opportunity to seek clarification and comment on the proposals.
Militante said the minutes would become part of official records to be considered by the provincial boardf before it finalizes the planned changes in the province’s tax law.
Gov. Yevgeny Vincente meanwhile called on residents and taxpayers in the province to participate in the public hearings on the proposed amendment of the revenue code.
In a statement e-mailed to this paper, Emano said, “This is everybody’s concern. This endeavor should be well-participated by the general public so they will be ultimately heard of their sentiment. It talks with the taxes that you people should be informed and be counted as in favor or against the changes of the tax policies in our province. They should take chance of attending one of the most critical forums because they are the supreme judge in all transactions of the provincial government.”
Militante said the scheduled public hearings were in line with Emano’s transparency thrust.
