AUTHORITIES, led by Philippine National Police Chief Ronald dela Rosa, presented a leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group on Monday to reporters.

Broadcasted live on national TV, dela Rosa identified the ASG leader as Abdul Nasser Lomondot who was arrested by the police in coordination with Task Force Zampelan.

He was confirmed by the military as a Maute-Isis leader.

Major Ronald E. Suscano, spokesperson of the PNP, said Lomondot was arrested by law enforcement operatives last Saturday, at about 5:20 pm at Recto Avenue in Manila.

It was learned that the suspect was part of Marawi seige and was also identified as among those who participated in the abuse of women and innocent civilians including children.

Suscano added that Lomondot  had undergone combat training at Butig, Lanao del Sur and was regarded as among the  key planners of the attack in Marantao, Lanao del Sur during the Marawi rebellion in May 2017.

The suspect was then brought to the Manila Police Districct for processing and filing of cases.
