BUTUAN City – Two LBC branches have been robbed almost simultaneously over the weekend.

According to a report by this city’s Police Station 1, three unidentified armed men, riding a black and white Honda XRM motorcycle, robbed the LBC-JC Aquino Avenue Branch at the LML Building in Barangay Tandang Sora, here at about 1 pm last Saturday.

Initial investigation showed that LBC  employee Alvin S. Amba, 28, was accommodating two clients when two of the suspects, armed with short firearms, barged into the branch and declared a hold-up. The third suspect stayed outside on the motorcycle.

Authorities said the suspects carted away around P41 thousand.

“We did not have a clue it was already happening inside LBC, as the robbers just acted like they were of the customers,” said one of the witnesses who requested not to be named.

Earlier that same day, Senior Insp. Calvin N Placer Jr, station chief of Nasipit Municipal Police station, said the LBC-Nasipit Branch was also held-up.

“We received the call that a robbery was taking place at the LBC-Nasipit branch in JP Rizal Street, Barangay 3 at around 1:57 pm. But when we reviewed the CCTV footage the time indicated that it occurred at around 1:23 pm and left at around 1:27 pm,” said Placer.

Placer hinted that the hold-up was done by professionals since the robbers’ appeared organized and calm. The robbers were able to haul P9,145 in cash.

“Three unidentified suspects carried it out, two of them wearing ball cap with short firearms entered the outlet and told the employee of LBC Christian Dave L. Tion, 30, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Tagcatong, Carmen, Agusan del Norte including the three female customers to stay calm while brandishing their firearms,” Placer said.

“We are still investigating the CCTV footage to give us additional information that can hopefully help us solve this case,” he said.

Placer posited that the two robberies were done by two different teams but come from the same gang.

Both the Nasipit and JC Aquino branches have been robbed in 2014, also almost simultaneously.
