Incumbent 1st District Congressman and newly-elected Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia would likely seek legal remedies against Sangguniang Panlalawigan board secretary Ernesto Sotto Jr. over facebook posts.
Unabia said his family members seek justice over Sotto’s posting on social media that they won because of drug money.
“Mga tawo dili motuo about drugs tungod kay naila kita nga negosyante. I have more than 600 outlets of Sr. Pedro Manokan throughout the country as the main business. Mohatag kini nako og more than P20 million kada bulan,” he said.
He said his family also has others businesses like feed mill, hatchery, and poultry farms throughout the country where they dress up to more than one million chickens every month. He also financed backyard poultry throughout Misamis Oriental and other provinces nearby.
“Dili kini pwede nga sagulan ta kini sa mga tinonto. We received contribution during election campaign from other family business from Visayas and Luzon provinces,” he explained.
This develops as he consulted the municipal local chief executives on the possible reaction on SP’s move declaring its own board secretary “persona non grata” authored by PB member Virginia Dumadag.
“Natingala ako ni Sotto nga masakit siya nga napildi iyang amo. Dapat dili ingon ana iyang attitude og dawaton nila ang kapildihan sa iyang kandidato,” he said. Sotto, a lawyer by profession, is directly under losing congressional candidate Vice Gov. Jose Mari Pelaez.
Unabia said being acting as consultative by nature legislator, he started consulting municipal mayors on their own action against Sotto’s posting. He already consulted Magsaysay municipal mayor Charlie Buhisan and Balingasag Mayor-elect Alexis Quina for their own responses.
He said initially both local chief executives said they would adopt the SP resolution and probably pass their own municipal version on “persona non grata.”
“Patapak naman gud kini sa katawhan sa Misamis Oriental nga nganlan niya og puta. Matud ni Quina kinahanglan gyud nga dunay lig-on nga aksyon ang matag-munisipyo,” he added.
During her privilege speech on Monday, PB member Dumadag described Sotto’s Facebook posts which she called “grievous, malicious, and cause “dishonor to the people of the province.” She cited the posted directed to Congressman Unabia and the people of Misamis Oriental.
One of the posts, she said, reads: “Most of the Misamisnons are whores who spread their legs to the highest bidder.”
Unabia said opposition bloc continuously posted that he did nothing during his term of office and made some illegal acts during the campaign and cheating acts during the election period.
“They deceived the Misamisnons. Nag-trabaho lamang kita nga walay daghan posting. My counterpart in the second district reportedly made some checking on my attendance before the House of Congress,” he claimed.
