THE city government continues to work with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to provide modern farm equipment to farmers in different barangays.

Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy referred to the City Council committee on agriculture and fisheries chaired by Councilor Annie Daba for review the proposed Memorandum of Agreement to be entered upon by both parties for various farm equipment and post-harvest facilities.

The agreement covers two units of mechanical shellers and mobile shredders and one unit recirculating batch dryer.

Under the agreement, the DA-RFO shall procure and turnover the goods intended for the project to the local government unit under a grant scheme upon compliance of all the required documents.

It shall likewise monitor the activities of the beneficiary and provide guidelines in the implementation of the different interventions, among others.

For its part, the city shall submit to the DA-RFO the list of the recipients of the project and supervise the project in accordance with its intended use. It shall likewise ensure the sustainability and optimum utilization of the equipment.

The Besigan-Poblacion Farmers Association and Litig Farmers Association have been chosen as recipients of the mechanical sheller while, the Cagayan de Oro city Federation Agricultural Cooperative will benefit from the Recirculating Batch Dryer.

The mobile shredder will be used by Barangay Nazareth and the city government. (sp)
