Tandag City — The biggest gathering of festivals featuring the different tourist destinations as well as the rich cultural diversity of the entire province dubbed as Ka’ Liga Tu Sur Festival 2019 kicked off here Saturday morning.

Ka’ Liga Tu Sur will highlight the different festivals, tourist destinations and rich cultural diversity of the people in the province of Surigao del Sur comprising of 17 municipalities and two component cities culminating with the 59th founding of the province of Surigao del Sur better known as “Araw ng Surigao del Sur” from June 15 to 19 at the Surigao del Sur Sports Center in Tandag City.

“Our province has gained its name not only in the region but with other regions across the archipelago as a premiere tourism hub. We are blessed with the abundance of tourist destinations from one side of the province to the next,” said Gov. Manuel Alameda, Sr.

Alameda added that, “Our province has gone a long way, from being a lethargic coastal community to a promising agri-tourism center in Norther Eastern Mindanao. After 59 years, Surigao del Sur has finally enjoyed its blessing. The challenge now is how we can sustain what we have ripped the last six decades.”

Alameda pointed out that the province prides itself with it’s different beaches, farms, cultural heritage sites, caves, islands, water systems such as lagoons and majestic waterfall. 

“We can offer and cater tourists in our province all year round as there is so much that we can offer and to choose from,” said Alameda.

Mary Vil Cruz Chan, provincial tourism officer of Surigao del Sur pointed out that Ka’ Liga Tu Sur Festival hopes to bring and showcase the different destinations from all the municipalities and cities in the province in one venue.
