THE Capitol has advised residents of Misamis Oriental not to contribute to the Indonesian smog or haze, to avoid burning of dried leaves, and any other activities which can aggravate the smog,  those who will persist will be charged of violating the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano, last Friday, ordered the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to closely monitor the residents from coastal and mountainous areas of the province to avoid burning to help the call of Environmental Management Bureau to the help leases the ill effect of the smog.

Emano has also mandated all mayors of the province to heighten the information campaign, according to Provincial Information Officer Florito Duga-duga.

In Emano’s statement, burning of dried falling leaves and any activity that would create smoke emissions in their respective communities will aggravate the situation of what they called haze coming from the forest fires in Indonesian-Malaysian region.
