Daba airs alarm over anxiety, suicide cases among young people

COUNCILOR Reuben Daba, chair of the City Council committee on social services, calls on the interfaith sector to include in the program of Child Development Center the awareness concerning depression and other issues involving the youth.

In his special report during the regular session this week, Daba expressed his concern over the increasing number of the youth- related issues such as bullying, smoking, and drinking liquors, teenage pregnancy, and most especially depression.

Magahangyo ako sa City Council for the Protection of Children nga atong mahangyo ang interfaith kay dili na gyud kini maayo ug alarming na gyud kaayo kay ugma damlag sila man ang mopuli sa ato,” he added.

It may be recalled that a deaf student committed suicide by jumping from the JR Borja Bridge last Saturday at around 9:55 pm.

According to reports, the student was experiencing bullying and depression.

The special report of Councilor Daba was referred by Vice Mayor Uy to the CCPC for appropriate action. (sp)
