A 78-YEAR OLD certified public accountant from Macasandig yesterday filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman in the city’s 2nd District with a plan to author a law that would ban parking in all public roads.
The septuagenarian, Celso Balat, said he was not afraid of the candidacies of Abante Mindanao Rep. Maximo Rodriguez Jr. of the Centrist Democratic Party, ex-councilor Ramon Tabor of the Liberal Party, Councilor Ramon Tabor of the Padayon Pilipino, and fellow independent candidate lawyer Evangeline Carrasco.
Balat filed his certificate of candidacy at 11:45 am ahead of Tabor who filed his in the afternoon.
He said he decided to run for congressman “kay ang uban nga mga maayong laki sa Cagayan de Oro nahadlok sa kandidatora nila ni Cabanlas, Rodriguez, Tabor ug Carrasco.”
If elected, Balat said he would work for a law that would ban parking of all kinds of vehicles on public roads.
“Ang akong gusto nga no parking sa tanang public roads kay mao kini ang maka-traffic,” said Balat.
He said he would also work to allow students to avail of loans for their college education, force all private companies to share profits to their workers, and make the government impose fixed or a flat tax program. (nitz arancon)
