THE Manolo Fortich police over the weekend denied its men mauled two soldiers arrested inside a bus on Tuesday last week.

The denial came after a video of the incident went viral over social media. A Facebook account, Panabo’s Trending and Viral first posted the video in Sept. 21. It has since been viewed 619,498 times as of press time.

Chief Insp. Richie Yandog said the unidentified man seen on the footage punching the arrested soldier is not a member of the Manolo Fortich police. However, Yandog did not elaborate why they did not arrest the suspect who punched the soldier.

“Dili akong mga polis ang nanumbag, civilian kadto. Unya tipik lamang kadto ang migawas sa video sa social media. Wala gani ma-klaro ang discussion didto during sa pag-arrest kanila,” he said.

Yandog said they even decided not to pursue the direct assault complaint against Pfc. Brian Anco and Pfc. Armand Gentiles, regular members of the  Malaybalay-based 41st DRC Ranger Company under the Army’s 4th Infantry Division.

He explained that the police only responded to a call for assistance of the bus driver identified as Jonard Solano because of the alleged disruptive behavior the soldiers in the bus.

Anco and Gentiles have filed their joint affidavit of desistance to file criminal, civil, and administrative cases against the Manolo Fortich police officers.
