AS the Task Force Hapsay Dalan continues to implement clearing operations in the city, Councilor George Goking, chair of the City Council committee on ways and means, reiterated the need to revisit the city’s parking ordinance.

In his special report, Goking, who was joined by Councilors Romeo Calizo and Reuben Daba, said that some vehicles are illegally parking in sidewalks and roads.

“I already referred this to Councilor Romeo Calizo to apply more teeth to our parking ordinance,” he cited, adding that the city’s parking law is already outdated.

“We need to update because people will just park all over the place or put illegal structures,” he said.

It was learned that the task force conducted major road and sidewalk clearing operations along J.R. Borja Extension where several structures encroaching the sidewalks have been demolished.

It may be recalled that in response to the executive order of President Rodrigo Duterte, the Department of Interior and Local Government issued a Memorandum Circular directing all governors, mayors and barangay chairmen to reclaim public roads. (sp)
