PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur — A female New People’s Army died and her AK47 was recovered at around 3:45 pm Saturday after an encounter between the government troopers of 29th Infantry Battalion and the NPA rebels at the vicinity of Barangay Hinimbangan, Kitcharao, here.
The identity of the dead NPA has yet to be determined. Her body was turned over to the Kitcharao police for proper disposition while pursuit operation is ongoing.
“The NPA group was earlier reported by the residents to be scaring their village which forced the community to evacuate to the town proper,” said Lt. Col. Glen Aynera of the 29IB.
Col. Cristobal Zaragoza directed the 29IB to pursue the remaining members of the terrorist group who scampered to different directions during the firefight leaving their fatality. (4id)
