A regionally coordinated mobilization is set to assemble at the Press Freedom Monument at Capitol Grounds at 9 am Friday. They will then march around the city and end at Magsaysay Park in Divisoria for a short program.

In an emailed statement yesterday, Rev. Fr. Allan Khen Apus, Karapatan-NMR spokesman said President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of martial law in Mindanao is no different from the martial law declared on the whole country by Marcos 46 years ago.

“Iyang gipadayon ug gi-imposar ang pasistang pamalaud, kontra-kataw-hang palisiya ug kampanya ug padayong pagpanga-taki sa katawhang Pilipino pinaagi sa iyang counter insurgency nga programa ang ‘Oplan Kapayapaan’ nga nagresulta sa dinaghan nga pagpanglapas sa katungod sa katawhan,” Apus said in the statement.

Apus added that since Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao, they have recorded five extrajudicial killings, five frustrated murders, 10 cases of torture, 89 cases of illegal arrests and detention, 465 cases of harassment and intimidation, among others.

“Join us as one voice to expose the horrors of martial law under Duterte and to call for justice for all victims of Marcos martial law,” said Apus. (cbc)
