In an interview, IFI Bishop Felixberto Calang said they drafted the theme for the 115th foundation anniversary of IFI as a call to President Rodrigo Duterte to resume the peace negotiation.

This year’s founding anniversary of IFI banners the theme: “Make every effort to do what leads to peace.”

The IFI Church was founded on Aug. 3, 1902.

“Until such time nga wala pa’y access ang katawhan para sa kinabuhi nga madagaya-on,  then there is no peace at all. Mao na ang atong pangita-an ug pama-agi. Unsaon nga makab-ot nato ang abundant life,” Calang said.

Last Thursday, more than 4,000 IFI members celebrated the 115th founding anniversary at the Pelaez Sports Center, here.

In his homily during the opening mass, Bishop Antonio Ablon prayed that Duterte will not go through with his threat to bomb Lumad schools in Mindanao.

Walay makab-ot nga kalinaw kon simbako, ipadayon ni President Duterte nga iyang bombahan ang mga (eskwelahan),” said Ablon.
