The displaced fire victims at Kolambog, Barangay Lapasan will receive financial assistance from the city government and from their Barangay to them aid  in rebuilding their houses which were burned down when a fire broke early morning on Tuesday.

City Social Welfare and Development head Teddy Sabuga-a said aside from the immediate relief assistance they provided the day after the fire broke out, they have set aside funds intended to the 19 households affected by fire.

Sabuga-a said the amount they will receive will be based on the assessment with an attached certification from the Fire department.

“As long as they comply with the requirement we provided, hopefully before the year end, they can avail of the financial assistance,” Sabugaa added.

Lapasan Chairman Omar Labuntog said they will also distribute P2,000 for every household fire victim.

Labuntog said fire victims are now temporarily housed in their evacuation center, however, there were fire victims who have already returned to their burnt houses and started rebuilding.

“We have provided them immediate aid, including the relief goods and personal hygiene kits given by former 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez. Wala namo sila pasagdi in fact, from time to time we assist them in providing for their food and clean water supply,” he said

Labuntog said they will continue to house the fire victims in their evacuation center until the fire victims could rebuild their houses.

Authorities said they are still investigating how the fire started which injured five persons and has left more than 105 households homeless.
