Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative (Laneco) assured they will take immediate action on eight-hour rotating blackout in three municipalities of Lanao del Norte.

This, after the Sanguniang Bayan of Kapatagan town expressed the concerns of residents to Laneco and NGCP during its regular session.

Kapatagan Vice Mayor Benjie Bagiuo said the eight-hour rotating blackout for one month due to a busted 5MVA power transformer of Laneco Kapatagan substation located in Barangay Curvada, Kapatagan town will be shortened to 15 days.

Bagiuo said Laneco was able to purchase a new 10 MVA transformer.

However, Bagiuo emphasized that if the new transformer will arrive on Tuesday the removal of the old transformer will proceed which means power will be down for the whole day to enable Laneco personnel to do the replacement procedure.

Hopefully its implementation will be waived momentarily to complement Laneco’s emergency purchase, said.

Laneco, for its part, warned that the acquisition of the new transformer will be passed on to their member-consumers and would mean increased electric bill in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Bagiuo said the SB Kapatagan plans to pass a resolution requesting Laneco to extend their payment cut-off deadlines to compensate for the period where the member-consumers suffered huge losses and inconvenience.
