Veneracion, the group has consistently won major prizes in the most prestigious international choral competitions for decades. Because of its impressive track record and musical virtuosity, the Philippine Madrigal Singers is now regarded as one of the best choirs in the world.

Now, under the direction of Mark Anthony Carpio, the ensemble continues to perform a wide repertoire of various styles and forms: Renaissance music, Classical music, Filipino and international folksongs, contemporary and avant-garde music, opera and even popular music. Their specialization and focus on the madrigal idiom have inspired their unique set-up of singing while seated in a semi-circle, without a conductor.

The benefit was hosted by the Capitol University Alumni Association Inc. (CUAA) and Capitol University. The Philippine Madrigal Singers has been performing in Cagayan de Oro over the years and has been graciously hosted by the University since the 90s.

Kicking off the concert was Capitol University’s very own Glee Club, along with performances by other Glee clubs from different schools in the city who were fortunate enough to have had a workshop under MADZ.
